Definition: Differentially expressed in T lymphocytes in small intestine and colon as well as in thymus, lymph nodes, and spleen as two variants by human CCR9 Gene (GPCR1/Beta Chemokine Receptor Family), C-C Chemokine Receptor Type 9 is a seven transmembrane G protein-coupled receptor and regulator of thymocyte migration/recruitment and development that may promote specialization of immune responses and inflammation in different regions of the gastrointestinal tract. CCR9 mediates intracellular calcium flux and specifically binds to CC chemokine TECK/CCL25 ligand. (From LocusLink and NCI)
