ABL-Interactor 2 Protein
Definition and Synonyms

Definition: The ABL protein is a constitutively active tyrosine kinase that may regulate signal transduction events in the cytoplasm and processes in the nucleus. It is repressed by SH3 domains and possibly by other regions. ABL-Interactor 2, encoded by the ABI-2 gene, is the substrate for ABL. This protein has an SH3 domain and interacts with the ABL. ABI-2 may function to coordinate the cytoplasmic and nuclear functions of the ABL. It modulates ABL transforming activity and functions as a tumor suppressor in mammalian cells. (From LocusLink, OMIM)

Synonyms: ABL-Interactor 2, ABI2, ABL Binding Protein 3, ABL-Interactor Protein 2B
